The No Child Left Behind also known as “NCLB” is an act that was proposed in the United States of America in the year 2001 by the then President George W. Bush. The legislation that was introduced in the congress was aimed at funding a number of federal programs aimed at improving that performance of the schools in the United States of America. This funding would ensure that the standards of education in the United States of America are increased in order to ensure that the children are offered with highest quality of education. This would impart the relevant skills and knowledge expected of them in today’s changing and dynamic world.     

The No Child Left Behind also known as “NCLB” is an act responsible in the increasing the accountability for the states, districts schools and other schools; as well as providing the parents with an opportunity that they never had initially of determining the kind of school that the wanted their children to attend and not just being forced into admitting their children in any school. The act also provides the children with adequate standards of focusing in subjects like mathematics and reading which are considered to some of the most important requirements in the United States of America. This is because the country is composed of diverse people from different cultural and ethnical backgrounds.

 The pillars (advantages) of the No Child Left Behind

The No Child Left Behind also known as “NCLB” is an act that has got a higher opportunity in the improving of the quality of education in the country. The policy is considered successful since the pillars that includes the provision of more freedom to the states and communities, high proven education methods, more choices for parents and a stronger accountability for results have been majorly achieved.

The first pillar of the act is provision of more freedom to the states and communities; this is where the states and schools districts have the flexibility and the opportunity of determining the kind and how they use the funds that they are allocated to them by the federal government. Thus, the schools are in the position of using the money in trying to improve the quality of education of the school in order to ensure that the teaching quality in the school is increased. At the same time, it ensures that the school facility is providing the children with innovative opportunity, educational technology, and ensuring that the place is safe from drug.

High proven education methods, this is when the policy placed more emphasis on improving the educational programs. This is by more practices in the field of science research in our schools this is by improving the programs and teaching methods used in our schools.             

In maters of accountability and positive results the states are aimed at reducing that gap that exists between the disadvantaged and haves in order to achieve academics proficiency. This is when the policy states that each school provides the community with an annual report form that state on the progress to the public. In case the school can’t offer the annual report will offer supplement services just like free tutoring or after-school assistance and take corrective actions that will improve the school is run.
