Delta Force Essay Sample
Delta force is an action packed movie starring Chuck Norris, Lee Marvin and Martin Balsam as the most prominent actors in the film. The movie is directed by Menahem Golan and plays for an hour and twenty nine minutes. Chuck Norris, who is a martial arts master, keeps his acting scenes to a minimum until towards the end of the movie. The honor of a star in the film is given to the terrorist leader behind the American travel ways Boeing 707 that is on flight from Cairo to New York. All the passengers are taken hostage by Robert Forster who is the group leader. Bo Svenson who is the captain of the plain is forced to fly the plane to Beirut, Lebanon where they make demands to the American government. Meanwhile, the delta force led by lee Marvin and Chuck Norris, are deployed to resolve the crisis. The hostages are gathered and transported to a militant controlled area in Beirut upon landing.
Delta force identifies where the hostages are held and assaults the terrorist holdout. The film brings out the loathing anti- Islamic terrorist sentiments. There is a debilitating cost of Islamic terrorism in justification of the films stance. Much of world’s faults are not caused by America and Israel but more often the ones to be blamed are the Islamic terrorists and extremists. Delta force does not try to trivialize this fact. On the other hand, America and Israel are to be blamed for not humanizing the world’s ills. Thus the Islamic extremists and terrorists should not be viewed as evil people but as people blinded and blighted by religious dogma. This point switches the film from a 3.5 star rating to a 1.5 star action film. At this point, Norris reclaims his role in promoting his pro-military history.
