How The Purple Heart Day Is Celebrated

Every year the United States of America celebrate one of the greatest military holidays – Purple Heart Day. This day, people honor the military trophy for the most courageous soldiers, who were not afraid in the face of danger and helped to achieve a great number of military aims in specific operations. What is more, the citizens show their gratitude for living in a safe environment and being sure that there is always somebody to defend and protect them.

Let us get to know more about the symbol of the day

George Washington was the first to come up with the idea of military awards. In 1782, he designed the Purple Heart Medal. With time, civil services developed the procedure and identified the clear rules for receiving the trophy.

The exact dates and place of the celebration is already defined. Usually, it takes place in the end of summer, on the 7th of August. However, this year it will be also held on the 7th of April. So, this way, the American nation would have the chance to commemorate those who died or were injured doing their service. In the act of respect and sympathy, people donate money. Even more, they can also spend some time with veterans in order to give them moral support.

Do not lose your chance to be engaged in various social activities. Servicemen share their combat experiences and tell how they survived in flash points all over the World. There are history books that would tell these stories so realistically. Additionally, “remembrance meetings” are carried to give veterans the possibility to spend time together and talk about their past of future.

Therefore, do not be a couch potato and join the celebration. Do not underestimate your role, as you can be very helpful just spending time with the veterans, supporting them mentally and financially.
